It was the biggest challenge of his career. On June 7, 1867, while the Exposition Universelle was in full swing in Paris, Jacques Offenbach was summoned to the Café Anglais by the Minister of the Interior: he was asked to perform for three Emperors, interpreting for them the best excerpts from his major masterpieces. He enlists the help of his favorite singer, the great Hortense Schneider. But who exactly are these three sovereigns? And who is this mysterious pianist, who suddenly appears and wants to unlock the secrets of Offenbach's musical genius?
Opening act:
Léo Vermot Desroches, Tenor
A native of the Franche-Comté region of France, tenor Léo Vermot-Desroches graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2022 with a Master's degree, unanimously obtaining the highest honors.
Winner of the Voix Nouvelles 2023 competition, supported by the Orange Foundation, he was named "Révélation" at the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2024 awards. He also won the Premier Prix Opéra and Premier Prix Mélodie at the Concours international de chant lyrique de Marmande in 2020.
